HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Whether your traditions are old or new, like ours, we hope your day was filled with the blessings you all so richly deserve. We love you and miss you all, but we are creating our own Joe Borich Family memories. We are cherishing our time together and bonding in a way that we might never have if we weren't so far away from the (other) ones we love! We pray that you will all cherish your friends and family if you are close to them. If you aren't, like us, we hope you can make new memories to sustain you for a time that will bring you closer together. We wanted to share our new memories and traditions with you all...

Joe making Candied Apple pie cheesecake last night...
Daddy & Mykah making Double Layer Pumpkin Pie this morning...

Mama & Mykah relaxing while Daddy slaves in the kitchen :) The way it should be, might I add...

Being from Idaho, I'll be in charge of the potatoes forever! Jody & Kelly, they aren't instant and they don't contain Cool Whip...(EVER)

Mama & Daddy attempting (& succeeding wonderfully!) at homemade gravy...Thanks Grandpa Joe's Butterball Hotline!

The beautiful bird (half-carved) was DELICIOUS. Joe nailed it!

But, nothing I can say can top Max's version...

Fall in New York 2008

There are only a few things about New York that I'll miss when we move on and fall is one of them. These are a few pix of when the leaves first started changing. It grew more & more beautiful every day and I wish I was blessed with the words to give you all the image of their glory in your head. The closest I can come to accurately describing them are they're fluorescent shades of red, yellow, orange & green. God's paintbrush has colors that we'll never be able to imitate, but I hope we can all remember to stop & enjoy them. We tried to gather them and turn them into placemats, but that didn't even truly capture the splendor...

There's no fall season at the Borich house without a whole lot of football. This is Brody Barnum's helmet that Max refused to give up without a fight before Brody's peewee game a couple of weeks ago...I'd hate to see what he did around the house if he had a helmet of his own. He already head butts Joe's bigscreen!

This is Mykah taking a moment to play in the leaves she was gathering for her placemat project... Something else we should stop to do every once in a while!

Carving pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns... Max wasn't that interested, so we thought we'd document a cute face moment!

Finished projects...Mine & Maxi's is the one that looks possessed, Joe & Mykah's is the goofy one. That might accurately describe our family right now. Seriously, I'm entering my 6th month of pregnancy and Max is 2. You can all relate, right?!

HALLOWEEN NIGHT...

Superman & the Witch. Mykah's too cute to be scary, but don't tell her that. We were happy Max even put his costume on!

Mykah thought an apple was an easier prop than a broom to carry, so she told everyone she was the witch that poisoned Snow White! Clever or lazy?

Trying to fly...Thank goodness he can't, I can't keep up with him as he is now! We were amazed how quickly he caught on to trick-or-treating. Once he figured out if he said "trick or treat" that people gave him candy, he was saying it to anyone around! Lucky for us, he wouldn't put his candy in his pumpkin, so his little hands filled up fast and then was pretty content with his loot!

GAME DAY AT THE BORICH'S...I thought it might be kind of fun to show everyone what game day is like at our house. It started Friday night when I got home from work at 6:00pm. Joe went to the store for me & picked up the things I needed to make my contributions for the tailgating, homemade macaroni salad & spinach dip. You all know these have to be made the night before to be refrigerated, so when dinner was done, I started cooking. This is when "Hannah Montana" & "Shark Tale" come in handy! Game Day begins at 6:45am when Max wakes up (he usually sleeps until 8ish). I hang out with the kids, cartoons & cereal while Dad gets his final hour of sleep. 8am sharp, Joe is up to shower, shave and dress in a suit (hubba-hubba!) for pre-game meal at the local 4-star restaurant, the Statler. On his way out the door, the kids both say "good luck, Dad" and I haul my butt off the couch (which is becoming more difficult) to say what I say for every game. "Don't second guess yourself and remember who you are and what you stand for." (Shauna-ism) After I calm Max down, who is very sad that "Daddy go to foo-ball game" without him, I get the kids ready, then myself and we head out at 10:10am (Cornell is about 20 minutes away and the ENTIRE ride is filled with "Maxi go to Daddy foo-ball game" over and over) First, I make about 4 trips to haul everything (food, drinks, blankets, warm clothes, etc.) out to the car, including the kids! Mykah & Max are ready for the festivities...10:30am. We arrive on campus to park and throw on hats, etc. Then we walk a short distance to see Daddy in the "parade"...
The Cornell marching band leads the way from the Statler Hotel, up the street and into the stadium, Schoellkopf Field. This is actually the first time we've witnessed this. Gotta say, I thought it was pretty cool!

Here comes the team! These are the kids that I can't get to STOP calling me Mrs. Borich...

My ever-so-hot hubby all dressed up. Some of you might also recognize Bruce Barnum, (friend who dragged us here) the Offensive Coordinator and dear friend. I'm such a big ball of hormones right now that this whole event actually made me teary...there's something about seeing the one you love with every inch of your being in his element, and this is Joe's. It's what he does so well and loves and we are so proud of him!!!

Back up to the parking lot (after kisses from Daddy on his way in the door to prepare for the game) to tailgating activities for the kids,
facepainting for Mykah...

food for Max (maca-woni)

Coach waiting for the kick off (I like to think this is where he subconsciously thinks, "I better rest my voice for a few more minutes, then it's on!")

A little time to SCHMOOZE...something we all know he does so well!

Tailgating was so exhausting...maybe I shouldn't have woken up at 6:45!
Max caught some desperately needed zzzzz's between the bleachers. Kick off is at 1:00pm, which is exactly when he would be napping at home or daycare, so it gets kind of dicey prior to this blessed event!

I won't pretend to have any idea what in the world he's saying to the players...might not have been great, considering the way the game went today.

Shortly after the following picture of Joe & his players, Mykah came back to where I was sitting with the other coach's wives. (She does her own thing with all the other coach's kids throughout the game, so I only see her when she needs $$$) This is the first year Joe has coached on the sidelines and not in the box, which has been very fun for us to watch. Anyway, I digress...Mykah came up to me after this and said,"Mama, I could hear Daddy YELLING at the players. I couldn't hear what he said, but he sounded MAD! He didn't swear, though..."! Awww, those are the tender moments in life, right!?

At the end of the day, Cornell lost the game, but Daddy gets some of the sting taken out of that by basking in the love of his children. They never care if he wins or loses, only that he's their dad and they enjoyed being part of his day, even from the bleachers.
Joe, I love you with all of my heart, my mind and my soul. You are the love of my life and I'm proud of you every day. Thank you for the man that you are, the husband that I cherish and the father that our children are so proud to call "Daddy". We are blessed to have you as ours...

Welcome to our new blog!

OK...What a mess I've been trying to clean up! I'm hopeful for all of the readers' sake that I'm the only one dumb enough to erase a template completely. Since I've now had our blog for a while, I updated from Template to Layout some time ago... you older bloggers may remember when all the cutsie widgets were not as easy to add to our blogs. Well, when I erased my template, it took away the option of re-upgrading to Layout unless I updated several programs on my computer and used a different browser to blog (HUH?). What I found out thru Blogger Help is the new blogs created come standard with Layout setting, so it can never revert back to classic Template...BLAH, BLAH, BLAH...New blog :)

IT'S A BOY!!! I'm so sorry that it has been so long since I posted...see above. Don't make me go into it again. Our ultrasound showed we are having another boy, much to Mykah's dismay and to my ultimate joy. I love to be right and mother's intuition told me from day one that this baby is a boy. I had begun to doubt my instinct, though, because so many close to me were convinced it's a girl. YAY, ME! Much like Mykah's cousin Abby was told, we assured her that she'll have to be okay with being the only princess in the house for now. Funny how that does take some of the sting out of it for her!
My parents were here (FINALLY) from the 24th of September until the 2nd of October and got to go to the ultrasound with us. We also took Mykah and she got the biggest kick out of it... I almost had more fun watching her face than the monitor. She was laughing hysterically when the technician jiggled my belly several times to get Josh in a different position. By the way, thank you all for voting on the poll for Josh's middle name. I didn't put it back on the new blog because we got 17 votes and I can't imagine that more than that check out our blog. 12 people voted for Oliver and 5 for Thomas... you'll have to wait until he's born to see what is decided!
In the same time frame as my parents visited, we were blessed to also see Chad, who was here (about 45 minutes away) for work. We got to see him the night before he left to go home and it was so great to get another small piece of home. We wish he'd have been able to stay one more day and go to Joe's game. Interestingly enough, we then got to see more of Joey's family AT the game :) Uncle Jim, Blake & Jake all came to watch the big Yale game, as Jake has been invited for a couple of visits! We missed seeing Aunt Susan & Amy, but I got a chance to visit with Uncle Jim, who likes both Oliver & Thomas as middle names for Josh since they are his own last & middle names. We got his blessing to use either one!
While my parents were here, we did a lot of hangin' out. No big adventures this visit...in fact, my mom took over the cooking, cleaning & shopping while she was here. What an awesome break for me because you all know it's football season, so I'm on my own most of the time. The only fun thing we did was take Mom & Max on the wine tour, which they seemed to enjoy.
I'm glad you all found us...
