Sanity Slowly Returns

To our dear friends and family,

Thank you for all of your prayers and support during the last very long and painful month!  We are so grateful for each and every one of you.  As you may or may not know, Joe did not get the job that we wanted. 

Please know, without a doubt, that we are okay.  If you were on my blog yesterday and earlier today, you saw a very raw reaction that included my most personal feelings and thoughts.  I removed the post because we are ready to move forward.  We don't exactly know which direction "forward" is, but we will let you all know when we do.

There are only 2 thoughts that I will re-post:

Sometimes, we need a door slammed in our faces to turn our eyes so we can see something greater.

This poem is my favorite and will be heavy on my mind as we face our future...

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

“You promised me Lord,

that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
